Our initial process was heavily driven by procurement, I made contact with the incumbent supplier and a number of other retail providers to discuss the project and our requirements. We found that the others we spoke too, including the current supplier who have the relationship with sites currently and have done for over 6 years, didn’t come close to Ross and Max and didn’t have the catalogue of goods Sportmax have, which would have meant further procurement to cover the multiple other contracts for non-swim retail items.
The decision was made to select Sportmax for the quality of their products, display options (including the price presentation) and the process of ordering / invoicing making the teams lives easier, whilst also making managing stock levels and stock takes simple.
We also found the enthusiasm from them both in building this partnership second to none – I have found in this journey you need people who understand the in-sourcing process/pressure and want to make it as easy and stress free as possible and this is what I have found with Ross and Max and I have no doubt this will be a successful partnership over the years to come.
